Who We Are
William Hanlon – a 2019 JD/MBA Candidate at SMU’s Cox School of Business & Dedman School of Law, born and raised in the nation’s capital, collegiate athlete and graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, where his Interdisciplinary Studies degree focused on future studies and the ethics of globalization & technology, along with a Minor in Sustainability, which exposed him to systems theory, risk management and triple-bottom-line businesses. Prior to graduate school, he gained experience in digital content & community manager, mergers, operations, and project management with a global strategic communication & public affairs agency, and has 4 years of customer service experience in the food & beverage industry. An aspiring social entrepreneur & public advocate, his exposure to the legal & political challenges facing transformative, early stage companies, and his belief in the strength of alternative forms of corporate governance & the B Corp movement, lead to pursuing the dual-degree program. It was on a cross-country road trip with Mat & Lucas that the idea for ETHIC was born.
Jason Mannon – a CPA & PMBA Candidate at SMU’s Cox School of Business with experience in the accounting and treasury department for SMU, where his focus is assisting the controller with tasks such as planning, coordination, and execution of the annual and interim audits, as well as relationship cultivation with various banking partners, account management, and coordination of banking efforts. He also has experience launching products, including through the crowdfunding method.
Mathew McDonough, Esq. – an attorney with experience in real estate, mortgage finance, and employment law, Mat is a Houston native, who received his law degree from South Texas College of Law and Bachelor degree in Philosophy from Emory University, where he and Will were fraternity brothers, baseball teammates, and travel buddies. He joined Will & Lucas on their road trip on a whim, and his Houston roots inspired the shipping-container-as-building-block in the conception of ETHIC.
Lucas DaSilva – a lifelong entrepreneur with product launch and sales experience, as well as deep customer service experience in the food & beverage and fitness industry. Born to roam, Lucas is an avid outdoorsman & athlete, with Brazilian heritage and rural Tennessee roots, whose hustle had lead him to Washington D.C., by way of Athens, GA, where he and Will became co-workers and then roommates. It was his decision to pack up and fulfill his dream of moving to California, joining Will in the process, that was the impetus for the road trip that spawned ETHIC, and he’s been involved with startups in SF the last 2+ years.
